Design Republic was started by Aparna Ramani & Taryn Kallie to fill a gap in the market for detail driven, innovative public spaces.
Design Republic is a young and growing firm which draws upon the experience of both directors to create tailor-made experiences. Part of our core philosophy is to support South African talent, and where possible we like to incorporate local products & materials.
Aparna Ramani
Aparna worked at Kim H and then Silvio Rech & Lesley Carstens Architects where she helped to start up their Interior Design division. Many of the residential and hospitality projects worked on there have won awards including at the World Architecture Fair, and been recognised both locally and internationally as precedents for the concept of ‘barefoot luxury’.
Taryn Kallie
Taryn worked as a senior designer at MDS Architecture for 8 years and has designed the interiors for many shopping centres include Sandton City and Morningside Shopping Centre. She also worked on many of the Planet Fitness gyms. Much of her work involves intricate detailing & execution on a large scale.
